Surge in Semiconductor Stocks Following Meta's AI Agent Launch

Semiconductor stocks saw significant gains on Monday, spurred by the success of Meta's new Muse AI Agent, which became the top free app on Apple's App Store. Advanced Micro Devices Inc. reached a market value exceeding $1 trillion, while Intel's shares rose over 12%.

Semiconductor Market Reaction

On Monday, shares of semiconductor companies surged as excitement grew over Meta Platforms Inc.'s newly launched Muse AI Agent, which has quickly become the leading free app on the Apple App Store. Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) experienced a notable increase of 9.95%, surpassing a market valuation of $1 trillion for the first time. Intel Corp. shares rose by more than 12%, making it the top performer in the S&P 500 index.

The rise in semiconductor stocks reflects renewed interest in the chips essential for powering AI applications. The Muse AI Agent, designed to assist users with various tasks, including online shopping and appointment scheduling, was introduced earlier this month and has already captured significant market attention.

Market Dynamics

Meta is a key client for AMD, accounting for about 5.5% of its revenue. Following the Muse's release, Meta's stock also saw a 12% increase, marking its best performance since April 2025. On the same day, the Muse was recognized as the number one free app in both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store in the U.S.

Surge in Semiconductor Stocks Following Meta's AI Agent Launch

According to analysts, including Matthew Bryson from Wedbush, the demand for AI agents heavily relies on computational applications, primarily supported by Intel and AMD. Recent weeks have shown renewed investor enthusiasm for AMD, following a two-month period of declines that raised concerns about the AI sector's health and return on investment.

If AMD's stock maintains its value through the end of the trading session, it will join other chip manufacturers like Micron Technology Inc., Broadcom Inc., Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd., and Nvidia Corp. in achieving a market valuation of $1 trillion or more. Currently, there are 15 publicly traded companies globally with a market cap of this magnitude, according to Bloomberg data.
